Lime, known for its shared light electric vehicles (EVs), has partnered with Hight Logistics and Forum Mobility to shift all Lime freight arriving in North America through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to zero-emissions port-to-hub shipping. This deal reflects Lime’s commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions, as nearly 50% of Lime’s new vehicles and parts globally arrived through these ports in 2023. This agreement anticipates more than 300 port-to-hub shipments to electric, zero-emission trucks annually.
Lime has also pledged to the World Economic Forum’s Mission Possible Partnership, aiming for 10% of its international shipping volume to use zero-emission fuels by 2030, with a goal of 100% by 2040. This move is part of Lime’s broader strategy to decarbonize its operations and contribute to a carbon-free future. The partnership with Hight Logistics and Forum Mobility is a first for Lime in zero-emission drayage and aligns with its efforts to lower Scope 3 emissions and meet its ambitious net zero carbon goals.
This initiative comes as California’s Air Resources Board mandates a gradual transition to zero-emission trucks statewide, with the entire drayage fleet required to be zero emission by 2035. Forum Mobility is developing a network of charging depots to support this transition, offering solutions for independent owner operators and large carriers alike. This partnership represents a significant step towards sustainable freight transport and highlights the growing sector of zero-emission heavy-duty freight.
