C&K Trucking, a renowned nationwide drayage trucking company, has announced a significant expansion of its operations to the West Coast by opening new terminals in Los Angeles and Seattle. This strategic development, made possible through the acquisition of Pacific Green Trucking in late 2023, marks a pivotal step in enhancing C&K Trucking’s service offerings and operational capabilities across the West Coast, particularly in California where the company now boasts a robust presence.

Expansion Driven by Acquisition and Increased Capacity

The acquisition of Pacific Green Trucking not only increases C&K Trucking’s chassis and contractor capacity but also underscores a shared commitment to excellence and growth. Pacific Green Trucking, known for operating over 120 trucks with plans for rapid fleet expansion, is a leader in renewable natural gas (RNG) powered trucks, highlighting a dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. This move is anticipated to expedite drayage operations from ports to rail ramps or distribution centers on the West Coast, significantly benefiting those in need of efficient drayage services.

Strategic Locations for Enhanced Service

C&K Trucking’s new terminals are strategically located to serve key logistics hubs:

  • Los Angeles Terminal: Opened in December, located at 512 East C Street, Wilmington, California, this terminal serves the San Pedro Bay ports complex, which includes the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. These ports collectively handle 29 percent of the U.S.’s containerized trade.
  • Seattle Terminal: Opened in January 2024 at 4901 Airport Way South, this terminal is within close proximity to all Seattle terminals and ports and also serves the Tacoma area. Its location near Union Pacific and Burlington Northern rail ramps facilitates efficient drayage service to distribution centers via nearby I-5 and I-405.

Future Outlook and Continued Expansion

With an eye on the changing economic landscape for importers and exporters, C&K Trucking’s expansion into the West Coast is part of a broader strategy to increase its nationwide presence and adapt to the volatile shipping environment. Following the opening of a terminal in New Orleans in 2023, C&K Trucking plans further expansion, with terminals in Detroit and Minneapolis on the horizon, aiming to bolster its network of 21 locations.
